EASTERN DISTRICT POLICE HEADQUARTERS

A Modern Landmark at the Heart of Hastings

Situated on a prominent corner in the heart of Hastings, this striking 2.5-storey building serves as a crucial public landmark, functioning as both the police station and courthouse. The New Zealand Police aimed to create a modern, welcoming workspace that promotes productivity and collaboration among staff while fostering engagement with the community.

The building’s structure is boldly expressed at street level, creating visual interest and interaction with passersby while maintaining subtle privacy for the interior workspace. Above this, the cladding gives the impression of floating, adding to the building’s architectural uniqueness and ensuring its status as a significant public building in the city.

AFC contributed to this landmark project by providing fully non-combustible, fire-rated Raynodual ACM exterior cladding, which enhances both safety and aesthetics. The building also features Trespa HPL exterior soffit lining, known for its low-to-zero maintenance requirements, making this public facility both durable and visually appealing for years to come.
