WAIAROHA WATER EDUCATION CENTRE, HASTINGS

Cutting-Edge Design and Cladding for Water Education

Waiaroha is a thoughtfully designed public space which includes a low-profile education centre building that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. It is primarily a treatment and storage facility built to ensure safe drinking water, but also serves as an educational hub where the community can learn about the region’s aquifers, the origins of our water supply, and the processes involved in managing and treating drinking water.

Architectural Facades Co. contributed to the project by supplying Alucobond Plus ACM Exterior Cladding, providing a sleek and durable exterior that complements the modern design of the building while offering long-lasting protection against the elements.

The development was realised with the assistance and cooperation of local iwi, Ngāti Kahungunu, ensuring that the project respects and integrates local cultural perspectives and heritage.

Designed to engage visitors of all ages, the centre is especially appealing to school groups, offering interactive learning opportunities about water conservation and responsible usage. Through its combination of educational displays and thoughtfully integrated landscaping, Waiaroha offers a space for the public to deepen their understanding of water management and its critical role in the community.
